Indigenous-Led Grantmaking Empowering Visionary Indigenous Women-Led Initiatives
ANNOUNCEMENT
Native COVID-19 Action Fund
Indian Country was left out of funding of the first two stimulus funding opportunities and for already under resourced communities, this is devastating. We need to take action now to provide holistic resources to Indian Country stronger and swifter than ever before to fight COVID-19.
We intimately understand the needs of Native grassroots communities and are able to connect individual donors/funders to meaningful opportunities for significant long-term impact. Our leadership has over 30 years of bridge building experience between philanthropic and Native grassroots communities. Traditional Indigenous knowledge is desperately needed for all communities now and into the future.
Identify and support urgent safety needs of Indian Country including: Rapid Covid Tests and Personal Protective Equipment supplies (N95 masks, face shields, gloves, Tyvek suits, cots, disinfection wipes, hand sanitizer)
Identify, connect and support traditional healers for mental health, spiritual, and cultural information access.
Support restorative and regenerative strategies that support farming efforts to reclaim and repair traditional territories to provide food and medicine.
THE PROBLEM
The contributions of Indigenous women have not been visible or significantly included in contemporary social causes.
Against this backdrop, this is the critical moment and opportunity to support an Indigenous Women-led organization, Return to the Heart Foundation, which is focused on uplifting initiatives to achieve long-term narrative change strategies from within social movements.
